Acne & Acne Scarring Treatment

We treat acne and its effects with advanced methods that restore smoothness, clarity, and confidence.

What is Acne & Acne Scarring Treatment?

Acne is a complex skin condition that develops when pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, or bacteria, often resulting in inflammation and breakouts. Over time, these can damage the skin’s deeper layers, leading to pitted scars, uneven texture, or dark pigmentation marks.

At NovaLx Aesthetics, we treat acne and its lasting effects with advanced, clinically proven methods that not only improve the appearance of scars but also restore smoothness, clarity, and confidence.

How We Treat It

Every skin type heals differently, which is why at NovaLx we never use a one-size-fits-all approach.

Our team performs a detailed consultation to assess your acne history, scar type, and skin tone, before recommending the single treatment most suited to your goals.

We specialise in three targeted therapies, each chosen for its ability to resurface, refine, and rejuvenate the skin — safely and effectively.

1. RF Microneedling (Secret PRO by Cutera)

A cutting-edge treatment that uses ultra-fine needles and radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and remodel scar tissue. It works deep within the dermis to smooth pitted scars, refine pores, and improve overall texture without damaging the surface — making it suitable for all skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–VI).

Results:

  • Reduction in acne scars and visible pitting

  • Firmer, smoother skin texture

  • Minimal downtime and long-term collagen renewal

2. Professional Chemical Peels

Our medical-grade peels use exfoliating acids such as salicylic, glycolic, or lactic acid to deeply cleanse pores, smooth texture, and reduce both active acne and post-acne pigmentation.
These peels accelerate skin turnover and help prevent future breakouts by rebalancing oil production and removing debris.

Results:

  • Brighter, clearer complexion

  • Reduced acne activity and blackheads

  • Diminished pigmentation and smoother skin tone

3. CO₂ Fractional Resurfacing (for Fitzpatrick I–III only)

For clients with deeper, more visible scarring, fractional CO₂ laser resurfacing delivers exceptional rejuvenation by removing damaged surface cells and triggering powerful collagen renewal.
It smooths textural irregularities and softens deep scars, restoring a fresher, tighter appearance. This treatment is only suitable for lighter skin tones (I–III) due to the higher risk of pigmentation in darker complexions.

Results:

  • Significant reduction in moderate-to-severe acne scars

  • Renewed skin surface and refined texture

  • Long-term collagen stimulation for ongoing improvement

Frequently Asked Questions

RF Microneedling

How does RF Microneedling help acne scars?
It stimulates collagen deep within the skin to remodel damaged tissue, smooth pitted scars, and tighten the overall structure for a refined complexion.

Is it safe for darker skin tones?
Yes — RF Microneedling is safe for all skin tones (I–VI) because it targets the dermis without disrupting the skin surface.

What is the downtime?
Expect mild redness and sensitivity for 24–48 hours. Makeup can usually be applied after 1–2 days.

How many sessions will I need?
A course of 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended for visible, lasting improvement.

Chemical Peels

Will a peel help with active acne?
Yes, chemical peels help control oil, clear blocked pores, and reduce inflammation. They also fade post-acne pigmentation for a brighter tone.

How strong are the peels used at NovaLx?
We offer a range of medical-grade peels, each customised to your sensitivity and acne severity:  from gentle clarifying formulas to stronger resurfacing options.

Is there downtime?
You may experience light flaking for 2–3 days. Your practitioner will advise when you can return to your normal skincare routine.

Can I combine peels with other treatments?
Peels are often used as a standalone course or as part of an alternating plan. Your aesthetic specialist will advise the safest sequence for your skin.

CO₂ Fractional Resurfacing

What makes CO₂ laser effective for acne scars?
The fractional laser removes tiny columns of damaged skin while stimulating collagen beneath the surface; resulting in smoother, tighter, and more even skin.

Who is suitable for CO₂ resurfacing?
This treatment is ideal for Fitzpatrick skin types I–III with deeper, more established scarring. It is not suitable for darker skin tones due to pigmentation risk.

Is there downtime?
Yes, redness and mild peeling for 5–7 days is expected as the skin renews itself. Full healing occurs over 1–2 weeks, revealing fresher, smoother skin.

How many sessions are needed?
Most clients see significant improvement after 1–3 sessions, spaced 8–12 weeks apart.

General

Do I need a consultation first?
Yes, your skin will be carefully assessed to determine which treatment is most suitable and safe for your tone, texture, and scar type.

Will my results last?
Yes, once the scar tissue is remodelled and collagen renewed, results are long-term. Maintenance treatments or top-up sessions will be needed to maintain outcomes.
